The Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) credential teaches students the fundamentals of computer networking. CCENT trained techs are familiar with key networking concepts such as network security and threat mitigation, IP addressing, and routed and switched networks. CCENTs are capable of installing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting networks for a tiny branch office.
Passing the CCENT certification test (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 or "ICND1") is the first concrete step towards earning your CCNA certificate, the next stage in Cisco's popular Routing & Switching certification route. The CCNA is made up of the CCENT (ICND1) and the ICND2. Because the CCNA is a more valuable and comprehensive credential, many network professionals seek ICND1 and ICND2 concurrently to maximise learning time and resources.
